A businessman who hailed from Ozubulu community in Anambra State has been reportedly shot to death in a street in South Africa in what is believed to be a gang war between rival Nigerian gangs.

According to a Facebook user, Ukachukwu Igboamusi who posted the sad story on his page, the victim, Ekene Emenike popularly called ‘Ogbuefi na Ozubulu’, was murdered in broad daylight when members of his gang engaged a rival gang in a shootout over a business deal that went bad.

It was learned that Emenike has close ties with Chief Aloysius Ikegwuonu also known as Bishop, the man who was fingered as the target of the massacre at the St. Philip's Catholic Church, Ozubulu, on Sunday, August 6, 2017, where 13 worshippers were gunned down by a gunman during a morning mass.

Emenike, it was gathered, had gone into an alleged drug deal with some partners but when the money came, his gang refused to share the proceed, an action that caused bad blood between him and his business partners leading to threats and counter-threats.

The disagreement reportedly got to a head when the rival gangs confronted themselves in a street in South Africa and a gun battle ensued and in the end, he was gunned down while other members of both gangs sustained different degrees of injuries.

Since Emenike's death, his friends and associates have been sharing his photos on the social media with threats of revenge hanging in the air.
